Shrek Is Back—And He’s Made Quite the Impression
Another Shrek 5 trailer has arrived, and let’s just say Far Far Away is once again the center of attention.
After years of anticipation, DreamWorks Animation has given fans another look at the next chapter in the beloved franchise, and audiences are loving every second of it. From the return of Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona to some hilarious new surprises, the trailer has quickly become one of the most talked-about animated releases of the year.
The latest footage reunites comedy legends Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz in their iconic roles as Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona. Fans also get a glimpse at the next generation of the family, with Emmy Award-winning superstar Zendaya joining the cast as Felicia, the daughter of Shrek and Fiona, alongside Marcello Hernandez and Skyler Gisondo as her brothers, Fergus and Farkle.

While the trailer delivers plenty of nostalgia, it also reminds fans why Shrek has always stood out from other animated franchises. The series has never been afraid to mix family-friendly storytelling with jokes aimed at older audiences, and the latest trailer continues that tradition in the most hilarious way possible.

One moment in particular has fans doing double takes. Eagle-eyed viewers quickly noticed Gingy looking a little different this time around, sporting what can only be described as a gumdrop-button BBL. It’s ridiculous, unexpected, and exactly the kind of cheeky adult humor that Shrek has been getting away with for more than two decades. Unsurprisingly, social media immediately ran with it.
Beyond the laughs, the trailer showcases a vibrant new adventure while staying true to the heart that made audiences fall in love with the franchise in the first place. Seeing the gang reunited again feels like catching up with old friends, and fans are clearly ready to return to the swamp.

The film is directed by Shrek veterans Conrad Vernon and Walt Dohrn, who know the franchise better than almost anyone. Vernon not only helped direct Shrek 2 but also returns as the voice of everyone’s favorite Gingerbread Man, while Dohrn has played a key creative role throughout multiple entries in the series.
Since the original Shrek debuted in 2001 and became the first-ever winner of the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, the franchise has grown into a global phenomenon. The four films have earned more than $2.9 billion worldwide and expanded into Broadway productions, live tours, theme park attractions, and countless pop culture moments that continue to resonate with audiences today.
Now, Shrek 5 is preparing to bring fans back to Far Far Away for another adventure, and if this latest trailer is any indication, the magic, humor, and chaos that made the franchise legendary are still very much intact.
And honestly? Seeing Gingy steal the spotlight with a gumdrop-button BBL wasn’t exactly on our 2026 bingo card—but we’re not complaining.
