Scary Movie 6 Is the Most Offensive Movie of the Year (In the Best Way)
Warning: Major spoilers ahead.
I’m going to say this right now: if you’re walking into Scary Movie 6 expecting a serious cinematic experience, you’re probably watching the wrong movie. The entire point of the franchise has always been to push boundaries, make audiences uncomfortable, and leave everyone in the theater laughing at things they probably shouldn’t be laughing at.
As someone who definitely had no business watching the original Scary Movie films as a kid, I can confidently say that Scary Movie 6 feels like a return to everything that made the franchise so iconic in the first place.
Since the release of the first two films, we’ve had decades of new horror movies, internet culture, celebrity scandals, and real-world chaos. The Wayans Brothers waste absolutely no time turning all of it into comedy. From references to Kanye West and Elon Musk to jokes involving the Epstein files, nothing is off limits. The film cleverly weaves these topics into horror movie tropes while parodying some of the biggest films and cultural moments of recent years.

This isn’t a movie that asks audiences to think deeply. It’s a movie that asks audiences to laugh together.
After watching the film twice, I actually found myself laughing even harder the second time around. Many of the jokes come so quickly that it’s easy to miss some of the background gags during the first viewing. This is absolutely the type of movie that benefits from seeing it with a packed crowd. Hearing an entire theater collectively react to the absurdity happening on screen becomes part of the experience itself.
And yes, the movie goes there.
There are crude jokes, sexual references, weed-smoking gags, racial humor, and plenty of moments designed to make audiences gasp before immediately laughing. The film doesn’t try to play it safe, and that’s exactly why it works. The Wayans Brothers have always excelled at finding humor in uncomfortable situations without apologizing for it.
In a post-COVID entertainment landscape where studios often seem afraid to take risks with comedy, Scary Movie 6 feels refreshingly fearless. It embraces the same chaotic energy that made the early films cultural phenomena and proves there’s still an audience for outrageous parody films.

The movie also features several fun cameos, including Teyana Taylor and Carmen Electra, helping create the feeling that the gang is getting back together once again. At the same time, the film pokes fun at the current generation, internet culture, and influencers. One of the funniest recurring themes involves streamers and content creators making money online, leading to a hilarious sequence involving Kai Cenat that had my theater roaring with laughter.
Horror fans will appreciate the countless references sprinkled throughout the film. Sinners, Final Destination, and numerous modern horror franchises are parodied, while longtime fans will enjoy callbacks to earlier Scary Movieinstallments. The movie strikes a solid balance between nostalgia and modern-day satire.
Of course, no Scary Movie would be complete without fan-favorite characters returning. Gay Ray is somehow even more outrageous than ever, delivering some of the film’s biggest laughs.
The finale is where the movie fully embraces its ridiculousness. The climax reveals multiple Ghostfaces, and when the masks finally come off, the reveal is so absurd that you’ll likely still be laughing about it long after leaving the theater. The ending also leaves the door open for future installments while continuing to focus on the legacy characters that audiences have loved for years.
Ultimately, Scary Movie 6 succeeds because it understands exactly what audiences want from this franchise. It doesn’t try to reinvent itself or become something it’s not. Instead, it delivers outrageous humor, endless pop culture references, memorable cameos, and plenty of moments that remind fans why these movies became comedy classics in the first place.
If you’re a longtime fan of the franchise, you’ll probably have a blast. Just leave your expectations for serious filmmaking at the door and prepare to laugh.
