Why Universal Studios Hollywood Is the Ultimate Summer Destination for Movie Fans
If you’re anything like me and love movies, theme parks, and stepping into your favorite franchises, then Universal Studios Hollywood just dropped some very exciting news.
Mega Movie Summer is officially returning to Universal Studios Hollywood from June 13 through August 9, and honestly, this might be one of the most stacked summer lineups the park has ever offered. From Fast & Furious and Wicked to Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated The Odyssey and Illumination’s upcoming Minions & Monsters, there’s something for every type of fan.

One of the things I’m most excited about is the Fast & Furious 25th Anniversary celebration. Guests will be able to get up close to authentic vehicles from the films, catch high-energy street performances, and soak in the hype leading up to the opening of the brand-new Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift coaster later this summer. As someone who loves immersive experiences, this sounds like a must-see.

Christopher Nolan fans are getting something special too. Universal is bringing one of the original ships from The Odyssey to the world-famous Studio Tour, along with exclusive behind-the-scenes footage and filmmaker interviews. Considering how much anticipation surrounds this film, that’s a pretty incredible addition.
And for the Wicked fans (myself included), Elphaba and Glinda are returning for character meet-and-greets, photo opportunities, and exclusive merchandise inspired by both Wicked and Wicked: For Good. Expect plenty of opportunities to defy gravity all summer long.

The Minions are also getting a monstrous makeover thanks to Illumination’s upcoming Minions & Monsters. Guests can meet new characters, enjoy a Minion Dance Party, shop exclusive merchandise, and try themed treats including Howard’s Berry Lemonade Cupcake and James’ Carbonara.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Universal celebration without themed food. The park is rolling out exclusive menus across multiple locations, including Fast & Furious-inspired eats at Drift & Dine, Jaws-themed offerings at Mel’s Diner, and plenty of new treats throughout the resort.
Even Universal CityWalk Hollywood is joining the fun. Visitors will find a massive Trojan Horse from The Odyssey, Fast & Furious-inspired dishes, Jaws-themed menu items, and Minions & Monsters doughnuts that look almost too fun to eat.
As an added bonus, Universal is offering a Buy A Day, Get A Second Day Free ticket promotion, giving guests even more time to experience everything Mega Movie Summer has to offer.
Between the movie-inspired experiences, exclusive food, character encounters, and new merchandise, Universal Studios Hollywood is making a strong case for being one of the best summer destinations in Los Angeles this year.
Needless to say, I already have my eye on the Fast & Furious activations, the Wicked photo ops, and that giant Trojan Horse.
