NBC is pulling back the Emerald curtain for a once-in-a-lifetime musical celebration ahead of Wicked: For Good — the epic cinematic finale to the beloved two-part film event that wraps up on November 21. This primetime special, first announced during NBCUniversal’s Upfront presentation in May, brings the magic of Oz to the small screen with live performances, reimagined numbers, and never-before-seen footage from the film.
This one’s for the Wicked fans — a night you’ll never forget that shines a light on all the hard work, heart, and creativity that go into bringing this spectacular story to life.

Filmed at the legendary Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, the venue was transformed into a breathtaking Emerald City-inspired set, complete with a 37-piece live orchestra conducted by musical director Stephen Oremus. The show featured dazzling choreography by Christopher Scott, who reimagined some of Wicked’s most beloved dance moments just for this event.
One of the most exciting surprises of the night was the reveal that fans will also get to see the original casting tapes for Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, as well as others who auditioned. It’s a rare glimpse into the moment where their Wicked journey truly began, adding even more emotional weight to the celebration.
Fans were also treated to a world premiere look at Wicked: For Good, featuring two new original songs written by the show’s legendary composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz. The special event teased additional songs and scenes that will appear in the highly anticipated film finale.
The historic event also included appearances from Wicked director Jon M. Chu, Stephen Schwartz, and several surprise guests who joined in celebrating one of Broadway’s most enduring and beloved stories.
