A memorable occasion unfolded when Gosling, aged 43, and Blunt, aged 41, bestowed upon Logan Holladay a Guinness World Record for achieving the most cannon rolls in a car.
“He’s buckling me into a car for a stunt he’s about to do. And then he goes on to do eight and a half cannon rolls, which is a world record, and then he pulls me out of the car and pats me on the back for the stunt that he just did. In any other movie, you wouldn’t know that, but in this movie you do,” Ryan said of working with Holladay on the film.
The cannon roll, a timeless stunt dating back to the early days of cinema, involves installing a cannon-like apparatus beneath a car that propels it towards the ground. When the vehicle reaches a specific speed, the mechanism triggers, launching the car into a sequence of rolls. Holladay flawlessly executed this stunt while driving a modified Jeep Grand Cherokee equipped with an external fiberglass body.
Inspired by the 1980s hit TV series of the same name, ‘The Fall Guy’ is directed by filmmaker and former stunt performer Leitch. His company, 87North Productions, is renowned for adrenaline-pumping action in films like ‘Bullet Train,’ ‘Deadpool 2,’ and ‘Atomic Blonde.’ Starring Gosling as a stuntman and Emily Blunt as a film director, the movie pays homage to the often overlooked heroes of the stunt community. Consequently, practical stunts took precedence in the production.
Leitch remarks, “With ‘The Fall Guy,’ I’m paying tribute to my roots as a stunt performer. We aimed to deliver action that stays true to the spirit of the stunt community by integrating techniques that have become somewhat rare. The cannon roll, a classic stunt, was a necessary addition to this film. Since we were crafting a movie that celebrates the efforts of stunt performers, our goal wasn’t just to execute the cannon roll; we aimed to set records and make a statement. Logan flawlessly executed it, demonstrating why he stands out in the stunt community.”
“The Fall Guy” lives up to its expectations and will have you on the ultime aderelanie ride. Catch it in theaters May 3 and stay tuned for out official review!
