Maia Kealoha: “We should say this stars Hawaii.”
Maia Kealoha, who brings young Lilo to life, radiates aloha both on and off screen. When asked how it feels to carry on the legacy of such a beloved character, she lit up:
“It felt amazing… even playing an icon in my Hawaii state—we call her an icon because she always brings Hawaii back.”
Kealoha emphasized that this isn’t just a remake—it’s a film that stars Hawaii as much as it stars any one actor. “It’s literally made in Hawaii,” she said proudly. “I got to show how much I love Hawaii—and everyone else does, too.”
As for who she’d love to see in a sequel? Maia didn’t hesitate: Angel, the pink experiment who stole Stitch’s heart, and Captain Gantu. And of course, “that alien that likes to eat sandwiches” (aka Experiment 625, Reuben).

Sydney Agudong on Full-Circle Moments
For Sydney Agudong, who plays Nani, the emotional connection runs deep. But beyond the sci-fi, it’s the emotional core that’s always resonated with her.
“Playing Nani taught me to put myself first… to keep my community and family close.”
“It really made me come back home and accept myself for who I am—including all the struggles.”
Tia Carrere on What’s Next: Glitches, Growth, and Ohana Forever
Tia Carrere, who voices Nani in the original animated film and now plays a new role, is still just as passionate about Stitch’s story. “When I came to this IRL film, I just looked back on everything I was able to create for Nani,” she shared.
One moment that stood out for her? Recreating the iconic Aloha ‘Oe scene.
“I got to suggest that I sing ‘Aloha ‘Oe’ in the hammock scene to say goodbye to my sister… when the director pointed to the set and said, ‘this is where it happens,’ I told him, ‘that was my idea,’ and he remembered reading about that from 20 years ago.”
It’s a full-circle moment that shows just how much love—and history—has gone into this project.
What Comes Next for Stitch?
With Angel, Gantu, and maybe even Reuben being floated as possible sequel additions, fans have plenty to get excited about. And while no official announcements were made about new experiments joining the cast just yet. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or new to the story, one thing’s clear: Lilo & Stitch continues to unite generations through heart, humor, and a little chaos.
