Table Of Content
On Sunday, July 27th, the First Ladies Health Initiative wrapped up a successful Free Community Health Day held at four participating churches throughout the Los Angeles area. The event was open to the public—no church affiliation required—and featured free health screenings for HIV, high blood pressure, diabetes, breast cancer, and Alzheimer’s disease. All screenings were completely free, and all test results remained private and confidential.
Representing the Initiative on-site were Dr. Shalonda “Sunshine” Crawford, Marquise Alston-Allison, and Taylor Alston-Cleveland, who engaged with community members to share important information about the organization’s mission and services. They emphasized how critical preventive care and accessible health education are in improving community well-being—especially in underserved areas.
“We are committed to building healthier communities through education, awareness, and services that are easily accessible,” said the Initiative team.
The event brought valuable health services directly into neighborhoods, eliminating barriers that often prevent early detection and treatment.
