Disneyland Resort’s “Kids Rule the Summer” Brings New Adventures, Nostalgia, and the Ultimate Family Escape
There’s something magical about summer at the Disneyland Resort, but this year feels even more special. During my recent visit to experience the new “Kids Rule the Summer” offerings, it was clear Disney is going all out to create unforgettable memories for families, longtime fans, and first-time visitors alike.
Table Of Content
From exciting entertainment to immersive experiences across the parks, the biggest highlight of the day easily came from stepping back into a galaxy far, far away at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
The updated experiences throughout Batuu made the land feel more alive than ever before. One of the most exciting additions was the brand-new mission coming to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, inspired by Lucasfilm’s upcoming film The Mandalorian and Grogu. The expanded gameplay introduces new destinations across the galaxy while bringing fan-favorite characters like the Mandalorian and Grogu directly into the experience, making the attraction feel fresh even for longtime visitors.
Walking through Black Spire Outpost also felt incredibly immersive thanks to the return of the beloved BDX droids roaming the land. Seeing iconic characters from multiple eras of Star Wars together — including Darth Vader, Stormtroopers, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo — created moments that longtime fans will genuinely appreciate. Hearing legendary John Williams scores throughout Batuu added another emotional layer that made the experience feel cinematic and nostalgic all at once.
Another standout was “The Curious Child,” a touching limited-time addition featuring Grogu that perfectly captures the heart and charm fans love about the franchise.
Beyond Star Wars, the resort was packed with high-energy summer fun. Families gathered for Disney dance parties, interactive entertainment, and the colorful “Bluey’s Best Day Ever!” experience, which brought the beloved animated series to life in a fun and adorable way for kids and parents alike.
Food Highlights from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
No trip to Batuu is complete without trying some of the themed food offerings, and I had the chance to sample three of the newest menu items at Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo. My favorite by far was the Adelphi Cheesy Noodles with Fried Chicken Tip-Yip, which combines creamy cheesy noodles, crispy fried chicken, pancetta, toasted herb breadcrumbs, and a sweet-and-spicy chili sauce. It was comforting, flavorful, and easily one of the best dishes I tried all day.

I also sampled the new Bounty Bun with Spiced Beef and Pork, served with tomato chutney, golden aioli, and sautéed blue onions. The combination of savory meat and flavorful toppings made it a fun and unique addition to the menu.
For dessert, the adorable Grogu Cookies were a must-try. These white chocolate-dipped macaron cookies filled with pineapple cream not only looked fantastic but also offered a sweet treat that Star Wars fans will love snapping photos of before taking a bite.
While there are plenty of great food options throughout Disneyland Resort this summer, the new offerings inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge helped make the experience feel even more immersive. Between the updated attractions, character encounters, and themed dining, Batuu was easily the highlight of my visit.
The ongoing Disneyland Resort 70th Celebration also continues to add extra excitement throughout the parks with special décor, themed treats, entertainment offerings, and celebratory moments around every corner.
