You’re Welcome: Disney Drops Trailer For ‘Moana 2’
Disney just keeps giving us more to look forward to!
The first trailer for “Moana 2,” just dropped and fans have been the eagerly waiting for the sequel to the 2016 animated blockbuster, and it’s making waves! Auli’i Cravalho is back, lending her voice to the fearless Moana, while Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson reprises his role as the larger-than-life demigod, Maui.
The teaser doesn’t give away much of the plot, but it kicks off with Moana embarking on a new seafaring adventure. This time, she hears an ancestral call to “sail to new skies and reconnect our people across the entire ocean.” The visuals are absolutely stunning, featuring breathtaking water animation and a mesmerizing shot of Moana floating alongside a whale shark.

Fan-favorite sidekicks Heihei the rooster and Pua the pig are back, too. And guess what? Pua finally gets to join the journey after fans questioned why the cute pig stayed behind in the first film despite being all over the promotional material. The teaser wraps up with Maui making a triumphant return on Moana’s boat. In a cheeky nod to the original, he quips, “Why didn’t you bring the pig last time?”
Originally planned as a Disney+ series, Disney’s CEO Bob Iger announced in February that they were so “impressed” with what they saw that they decided it deserved a theatrical release. This is a welcome decision, as the film is definitely one to experience on the big screen.
As anticipated, the online buzz for the film has been exciting. The film is set for a Thanksgiving release on November 27! You can watch the first Moana now on Disney+.
