Samara Weaving, Director Shawn Simmons & Cast Light Up ‘Eenie Meanie’ Premiere
We attended the world premiere of Eenie Meanie, where writer and director Shawn Simmons proudly unveiled his feature film.
As the red carpet lit up, a sleek tinted SUV pulled up. The door opened, and out stepped the star of the night, Samara Weaving. She hopped out with effortless charm and walked straight onto the carpet. Her shimmering dress and infectious smile illuminated the entire venue.

Eenie Meanie tells the story of a former teenage getaway driver who’s pulled back into her criminal past. A prior employer offers her a chance to save the life of her chronically unreliable ex-boyfriend. Viewers are taken on a thrilling ride full of twists and turns—and yes, Edie makes stick-shift driving cool again.
The upcoming film is produced by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, best known for their screenwriting work on the Deadpool franchise. Eenie Meanie is a unique blend of Drama and high-octane heist thrills. After attending the premiere, we can confirm this is one Hulu’s most anticipated streaming releases this month.

In a standout year for indie and small-budget films, Eenie Meanie is a bold and worthy addition. It delivers a perfect mix of action, attitude, heart, and humor. Samara Weaving gives one of the best performances in an action film this year. Her portrayal of a strong, independent, and empowering female lead will inspire audiences around the world.
Karl Glusman shines as John, delivering a role full of humor, heart, and energy. While he brings the speed, Edie—played by Weaving—races ahead and steals every scene. Their on-screen chemistry is electric.

Andy Garcia plays Nico, a crime boss with shades of The Godfather—a type of role he knows all too well and absolutely nails. Watching Edie go head-to-head with a crime lord and hold her own delivers a powerful message: stand your ground and fight for what matters to you.
After the screening, Simmons, Weaving, Glusman, Garcia, Mike O’Malley, and Kyanna Simone took part in a Q&A with the audience.

Samara’s driving during the film was outstanding that we had to know where she learned her driving skills. Weaving admitted that during the casting process, she lied. She claimed she could drive, but in truth, she had no idea how. After landing the role, she enrolled at Melrose Driving School to prepare. She gave a warm shout-out to Hollywood stunt drivers, especially Crystal, who performed her stunt driving.
Karl was asked about his nude scene, which was the very first moment the audience meets him. He opened by giving a shoutout to his mom, who was in the audience, and explained that she always said women are expected to expose themselves more than men in films. Samara responded with supportive snaps, and Karl dedicated the scene to his mom. Andy Garcia couldn’t resist adding a joke: “So your excuse was that it was cold,” which sent the audience into laughter.

Garcia went on to praise Shawn Simmons, calling him a “great director in the making.” We are still shocked that this was Simmon’s first feature film. The film evokes the spirit of classic films like The Godfather and The Untouchables.
Eenie Meanie premieres on Hulu on August 22, 2025—and it’s an absolute must-watch.
