Rob is best known as the screenwriter behind the iconic The Princess and the Frog, and he continues to break new ground with upcoming projects like King of Kings and Sneaks, the latter of which also stars Anthony Mackie. He’s also expanding into the world of comics with a new graphic novel titled Defiant—a further testament to his storytelling range and creative ambition.
Of course, we couldn’t help but dive into Captain America: Brave New World and the commentary that followed its release. While some conversations around the film were mixed, we found it to be a fun, bold reentry into the MCU. Rob shared that, in his view, discourse is natural, but what matters most is the joy and intention behind the work.
I always approach my writing as a fan first. If it’s something I’d want to see as a fan, that’s how I’ll approach it creatively.
We also touched on the recent cancellation of Disney+’s Princess Tiana series. Rob expressed disappointment about the decision, noting that there’s still so much story left to tell. He remains hopeful that the show could be revived—or that something new and exciting lies on the horizon for Princess Tiana.
Looking ahead, Rob’s upcoming slate includes star-studded projects featuring the likes of Uma Thurman, Ben Kingsley, Pierce Brosnan, Forest Whitaker, his graphic novel Defiant and of course more Marvel. Whether on screen or in print, Rob Edwards continues to be one of the most versatile and passionate storytellers in the industry.
