Beyond the Headlines: Award-Winning Documentary “ONE GOLDEN SUMMER”
ONE GOLDEN SUMMER, the award-winning documentary about the Jackie Robinson West Champions, is set to premiere on TBS and OWN this spring. TNT Sports, in partnership with OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, acquired the documentary, which tells the story of a South Side Chicago Little League team that captured the nation’s heart in 2014.

The team made history as the first all-Black squad to win the U.S. Little League Championship—but months later, their title was stripped due to disputed residency rules. ONE GOLDEN SUMMER gives the players their voices back, exploring their journey of brotherhood, resilience, and the true meaning of championship beyond the trophies.
The documentary will air on TBS on Tuesday, April 7, 10:30 PM ET, following the Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Toronto Blue Jays game, and on OWN on Thursday, May 7, 2026, as an OWN Spotlight feature.

Premiering to critical acclaim at the Chicago International Film Festival, ONE GOLDEN SUMMER won The Chicago Award and the Audience Award for Best Documentary. The film delivers an intimate look at the team, featuring never-before-seen footage and reflections from the players, now grown men. It highlights the joy of the game, the systemic hurdles they faced, and the enduring bond that made them champions in spirit.
Produced by State Street Pictures with Kevin Shaw as director, and Robert Teitel and Betsy Steinberg as producers, the documentary also lists Danny Zamost and Alex Pissios as executive producers. ONE GOLDEN SUMMER is a love letter to baseball, a tribute to Chicago, and an inspiring story of resilience and brotherhood.
