Dev Patel, renowned for his roles in films like “Lion” and “Slumdog Millionaire,” makes an extraordinary leap into feature directing with a gripping action thriller. It follows one man’s relentless pursuit of justice against the corrupt figures who not only murdered his mother but also perpetuated oppression against the poor.
Drawing inspiration from the legend of Hanuman, symbolizing bravery and fortitude, “Monkey Man” stars Patel as Kid, a young man surviving in the shadows of an underground fight club. Night after night, concealed behind a gorilla mask, he endures brutal beatings for money from more favored fighters.

Driven by years of suppressed fury, Kid uncovers a path to infiltrate the inner sanctum of the city’s evil elite. With childhood scars resurfacing, his hands, marked mysteriously, become the instruments of vengeance, unleashing a relentless onslaught against those who stripped him of everything.
Directed by Dev Patel who recently received a standing ovation for the film’s SXSW premiere and co-written with Paul Angunawela and John Collee, “Monkey Man” is a high-octane thriller filled with electrifying fight sequences and heart-pounding chases.
The international ensemble cast features Sharlto Copley, Sobhita Dhulipala, Pitobash, Vipin Sharma, Ashwini Kalsekar, Adithi Kalkunte, Sikandar Kher, and Makarand Deshpande.
