Jason Blum & Violet McGraw Warn The Black Phone 2 Is 10x Scarier at M3GAN 2.0 Premiere
M3GAN 2.0 is finally here — and it’s a whole different beast from the first film. We see it as a funnier, sharper, and giving serious Terminator 2 vibes, the sequel leans into chaotic charm. You might even find yourself forgiving M3GAN for her murder spree… almost.
The film marks another chapter in Blumhouse’s legacy of franchise-building horror, and while M3GAN 2.0 may be the studio’s more playful offering, the real chills are coming from The Black Phone 2.
Earlier this year, a teaser dropped for The Black Phone 2, and fans immediately took notice. On the red carpet for M3GAN 2.0, Madeleine McGraw — who stars in The Black Phone series — came to support her sister Violet McGraw, and she wasn’t shy about teasing what’s ahead.
“If you couldn’t believe it — it’s 10 times scarier,” Madeleine McGraw said. “It’s way more disturbing, way more sinister. We dive a little bit more into Gwen’s dreams… and yeah, I’m really scared to spoil anything, so I’m going to leave it at that.”
She also opened up about filming the more emotionally intense scenes, and the eerie transformation of Ethan Hawke on set as The Grabber:
“It’s hard to just leave that kind of thing on set,” she admitted. “But honestly, when it comes to the scary stuff and The Grabber, we’re always having so much fun. Ethan takes his mask off and he’s like, ‘It’s just me, you!’”

Jason Blum himself confirmed that the second installment would be much more disturbing.
“It’s going to be a lot scarier,” Blum said. “And The Grabber is back from the dead. The Grabber is back. It’s very snowy. And it’s scarier — scarier and more haunting and disturbed than the first movie.”
So, if you’re looking for laughs and chaos, M3GAN 2.0 may just be the lightest Blumhouse flick you’ll get this year. But if you’re craving pure nightmare fuel? The Black Phone 2 is coming — and it’s bringing The Grabber back with it.
