Universal Pictures has just introduced a major contender in its Monsterverse with the character Abigail. Innocent yet deadly, she is set to give M3gan a run for her money.
The film boasts a star-studded and talented cast who all play their part in drawing you into the evening’s festivities, which turn out to be more than just mere babysitting, right? Melissa Barrera stars as Joey, bringing her scream queen and final girl-esque attributes to the role. Dan Stevens takes on monsters once again as Frank, and his character is not as likeable as he was in Godzilla vs. Kong. Let’s just say he is a little unhinged.
Alisha Weir stars as Abigail, and you wouldn’t believe that this sweet young girl can transform into such a deadly force that is about to take on all these other characters. Will Catlett stars as Rickles, Kathryn Newton as Sammy, Kevin Durand as Peter, ‘Breaking Bad’s’ Giancarlo Esposito, and the late Angus Cloud as Dean.

“Abigail” is one of Angus Cloud’s final films following the tragic passing of the Euphoria star. His character, a getaway driver with a fondness for drinking, is brought to life by Cloud’s naturalistic stage presence and impeccable comedic timing, making the most of the role despite Dean’s all-too-early exit from the story.
In the film that debuted on Friday, Cloud is part of a group of kidnappers brought together to hold a wealthy millionaire’s daughter for ransom. For obvious reasons, each member of the crew adopts a pseudonym, concealing their real identities.
The film strikes the perfect balance between horror, humor, blood-thirsty monsters, and gore. It conjures up a unique blend reminiscent of “Blade” mixed with “Home Alone.” If the violent kill scenes don’t creep you out, you’re sure to enjoy the laugh-out-loud anecdotes sprinkled throughout.
