Whether you’re a die-hard Marvel fan, an action junkie, or an animation enthusiast, 2025’s movie slate has something that’s going to knock your socks off.
Back in Action (January 17 )
I’ve been waiting for Cameron Diaz to return to the screen, and Back in Action is totally worth the wait! Diaz stars alongside Jamie Foxx in this action-comedy as Emily, a former CIA agent who, along with her partner Matt (Foxx), has left the spy life behind to raise a family. But when their past is exposed and their identities go public, everything they’ve worked to protect comes crashing down. It’s going to be such a fun ride, and I can’t wait to see Diaz back in action! Expect thrills, laughs, and a ton of heart when this drops on Netflix in January.
Hard Truths (January 10)
Mike Leigh returns with a sharp, darkly humorous family drama. Marianne Jean-Baptiste stars as Pansy, a woman tormented by fear and anger, while Michele Austin plays her warm, easygoing younger sister. As the two women clash, the film delves into the complexities of family, duty, and love. With Leigh’s masterful storytelling, this one’s sure to be a powerful exploration of the ties that bind us, no matter how strained. I am seeing an Oscar winner here!

Captain America: Brave New World (Feb. 14)

This isn’t just another Marvel movie; it’s Sam Wilson’s time to shine as Captain America! After seeing him take up the mantle in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, it’s clear Sam is ready to step up and face threats that could change the world. With Harrison Ford joining as President Red Hulk, this one’s going to be huge. If you’re a Marvel fan, this is the film that could redefine the MCU going forward.
Paddington in Peru (Feb. 14)
Get ready for more of the bear who’s always in the right place at the right time. Paddington heads to Peru on a mission to find his beloved Aunt Lucy, and you can bet it’s going to be heartwarming, hilarious, and downright charming. There’s just something about this series that makes you smile, and I’m all for more of that Paddington magic.
M3GAN 2.0 (Feb. 16)

After the success of the first film, M3GAN 2.0 is back—and this time, she’s upgraded. I mean, if you thought a killer doll with a mind of her own was terrifying before, wait until you see what she can do in this sequel. With even more advanced AI, a deeper dive into M3GAN’s twisted psyche, and the added threat of other artificial beings, this one’s sure to be a wild ride. Horror fans, mark your calendars.

Mickey 17 (March 7)
Bong Joon-ho, the genius behind Parasite, is diving into the sci-fi genre, and I couldn’t be more hyped. Robert Pattinson plays Mickey 17, a worker in a dystopian future who keeps getting cloned every time he dies on a mission to an alien world. The idea of exploring identity and survival, mixed with Bong’s signature storytelling, is enough to make this one of the most anticipated films of the year. And let’s not forget the rest of the stellar cast, including Toni Collette and Mark Ruffalo.

The Electric State (March 14)
Directed by the Russo Brothers (yep, the geniuses behind the Avengers saga), this sci-fi adventure is based on the 2018 graphic novel by Simon Stålenhag, and I’m seriously stoked to see how they adapt it. The story follows a young woman (played by Millie Bobby Brown) and her robot companion as they travel across a dystopian 1990s America, trying to make sense of a world that’s been deeply affected by technology gone wrong.
What gets me most excited is the blend of dark adventure with a touch of humor and heart. It’s that perfect mix of the Russos’ knack for action and Stålenhag’s hauntingly beautiful, retro-futuristic world. I can already tell it’s going to be visually stunning and emotionally resonant, and honestly, that’s what I’m here for. I can’t wait to see how they bring that nostalgic, yet eerie world to life!
Snow White (March 21)

Disney’s live-action Snow White promises a new spin on the classic fairy tale, with Rachel Zegler stepping into the iconic role. I’m cautiously excited for how they’re going to blend the magic of the animated classic with modern sensibilities. Gal Gadot’s Evil Queen is going to be a showstopper, and the music’s going to make it unforgettable. This one has “Disney magic” written all over it.
The Black Phone 2 (April 4)

The Black Phone was one of the biggest surprise hits in horror, and now we’re getting a sequel. This time, it looks like we’re diving deeper into the twisted mind of the Grabber. Ethan Hawke is rumored to return, and I’m hoping we get even more backstory on his character. With the eerie supernatural elements and the suspense of kids fighting for survival, this one’s shaping up to be terrifying.
A Minecraft Movie (April 4)
Wait, what? A Minecraft movie? Yep, and it’s happening! Jason Momoa, Emma Myers, and Danielle Brooks are all part of this wild ride that sees a group of unlikely heroes transported into the blocky world of Minecraft. From the first trailer, it’s clear this will be a creative, fun-filled, and visually stunning adventure. If you grew up playing Minecraft or are just curious to see how they bring the world to life, this is definitely one you don’t want to miss.
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 (April 12)

Fans of the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise, rejoice—Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is coming, and it’s going to take the horror to a whole new level. With a new cast, new animatronics, and a deeper dive into the twisted lore of Freddy Fazbear’s, this movie is poised to make even bigger waves. If you love getting spooked by creepy animatronics and a story that keeps you guessing, this is your next nightmare.
Sinners (April 18)
The Sinners are coming! Ryan Coogler is back, and I couldn’t be more excited! This horror film has me intrigued from every angle. Not only is Coogler directing (you know it’s going to have that intense, gripping feel), but we’ve got Michael B. Jordan in a dualrole! I’m already imagining how that’s going to play out. Alongside him, Hailee Steinfeld, Jack O’Connell, Wunmi Mosaku, and Delroy Lindo round out the stellar cast, making this a must-see for me. The film is set to dive deep into psychological horror, with a plot that seems to explore sin, guilt, and some seriously dark themes. The teaser poster dropped with a chilling vibe, and I’m totally hooked. I can’t wait to see how Coogler mixes suspense, horror, and complex characters. This could be the horror film to watch in 2025.
Thunderbolts (April 25)

Finally, Marvel brings together some of its most dangerous antiheroes in one film. With the likes of Florence Pugh’s Yelena, Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier, David Harbour’s Red Guardian, and Wyatt Russell’s U.S. Agent, Thunderbolts is going to be a high-stakes, character-driven action thriller. If you love morally gray characters, this is your squad.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning (May 23)
Ethan Hunt is back for one last ride, and if this one is anything like the rest of the Mission: Impossible films, it’s going to be a heart-pounding thrill ride. Tom Cruise does not do anything halfway, and with the stakes higher than ever (we’re talking AI and international conspiracies), this is bound to be the biggest action movie of the year. Let’s just hope they find a way to top the insane stunts from the last film.
Lilo & Stitch (May 23)

Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch remake is sure to be a whole new level of adorable, and with Maia Kealoha stepping into the role of Lilo, I have high hopes. This is a movie that has a lot of emotional depth, humor, and heart, and seeing the bond between Lilo and Stitch come to life in a new format is something I’m excited about. Plus, let’s be real, we all need a little Aloha spirit in our lives.
Karate Kid: Legends (May 30)

After all the Cobra Kai hype, Karate Kid is coming back in a brand-new form. Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) are back to train a new generation of karate kids, and I’m ready to see how they balance the legacy of the original films with fresh faces and new stories. Martial arts fans, this one’s for you.
John Wick: Chapter 5 – Ballerina (June 6)
Ana de Armas is stepping into the world of John Wick with her own spin-off, Ballerina. Her character, a deadly assassin in training, is going to face some seriously tough odds. With the action choreography that we expect from the John Wickfranchise and de Armas’ killer (pun intended) performance, this is going to be a must-see for action lovers.
How to Train Your Dragon (June 13)
How to Train Your Dragon is one of the best animated movies of all time, so there’s a lot of pressure on this live-action remake. Still, I have high hopes. The relationship between Hiccup and Toothless was groundbreaking, and seeing it brought to life with real actors and CGI is bound to be an emotional journey. With the creative minds behind it, I’m expecting a visually stunning film that’ll leave us in tears (in a good way).
28 Years Later (June 20)
Cillian Murphy returns in the long-awaited sequel to 28 Days Later. After 28 years, we’re going to see how the world has evolved in the aftermath of the Rage virus. This is going to be dark, suspenseful, and terrifying—and I wouldn’t expect anything less. Zombie fans, get ready for a brutal, gritty ride.
Happy Gilmore 2 (July 4)

It’s been years, but Happy Gilmore is making his return to the golf course, and I’m all for it. Adam Sandler’s iconic character is back with more ridiculous antics and, hopefully, tons of laughs. It’s been a while since we’ve seen the hilarity of Happy Gilmore, and I’m just hoping the sequel has that same magic that made the original such a comedy classic.
Freaky Friday 2 (July 11)

Freaky Friday was an instant classic, and now we’re getting a sequel with Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis back in action. This time, there’s a twist—multigenerational body-swapping. I’m ready for some hilarious shenanigans, and I’m sure there’s going to be some emotional moments too. Who doesn’t love a good family comedy?
Jurassic World: Rebirth (July 2)

We’re heading back to the Jurassic world for another round of dino-filled chaos. This time, scientists are venturing into uncharted territories, and you can bet the dinosaurs won’t go down without a fight. There’s nothing like a Jurassic film to remind us of just how terrifying and awe-inspiring these creatures are.
Superman: Legacy (July 11)
James Gunn’s vision of Superman is finally coming to life with Superman: Legacy. David Corenswet takes on the role of the Man of Steel, and I’m excited to see how Gunn brings his unique storytelling style to this iconic character. With Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) by his side, it looks like this Superman movie will dive deep into the emotional and philosophical aspects of being Superman.
Fantastic Four: First Steps (July 25)

Finally! The Fantastic Four are officially joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and I’m all in. This reboot is the first film of Phase Six, and I’m absolutely ready for it. We’ve got a brand-new team of Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn), and Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and I’m super curious to see how they all come together. The movie will take us back to the ’60s for a fresh, retro take on the beloved heroes, which sounds so exciting. I’ve been waiting for the Fantastic Four to get the MCU treatment, and it looks like we’re finally getting the real deal. I just hope it’s as epic as it sounds, with all the cosmic action and family drama you’d expect from these iconic heroes.
Wicked: For Good (November 21 )

The Wicked saga is coming to a close with Wicked: For Good. After the success of the first part, we’re all ready to see how Elphaba and Glinda’s story ends. With the emotional depth, unforgettable songs, and breathtaking visuals we expect from the Wicked Universe, this is going to be a big one. I am crying already.
Avatar: Fire and Ash (December 19)

Okay, I cannot wait for this one. James Cameron’s Avatar saga is back with Avatar: Fire and Ash, the third entry in the epic franchise. After the emotional rollercoaster that was The Way of Water, we’re heading into even wilder territory. This time, Jake Sully and Neytiri meet a whole new tribe—the Ash People, who are the fiery counterparts to the Na’vi we know and love. I’m already pumped to see how this new tribe shakes up Pandora, and if it’s anything like the first two movies, the visuals will be absolutely breathtaking. Plus, if you’ve seen the previous films, you know that the stakes are about to get even higher. Let’s just say, it’s going to be fire—literally.
