Directed by Oscar®-nominated Lee Isaac Chung of “Minari” fame, the film stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, and Anthony Ramos. The characters, driven by conflicting goals, join forces in an ambitious attempt to predict and control the raw power of tornadoes.
Daisy Edgar-Jones plays Kate Carter, a former storm chaser who, after a traumatic experience with a tornado during her college years, now prefers to study storm patterns from the safety of New York City. Her calm life is disrupted when her friend Javi (played by Ramos) entices her back to the open plains to test an innovative tornado tracking system. There, she manages to convince Tyler Owens (played by Powell), a charismatic yet reckless social media star known for his daring storm-chasing posts. As the storm season approaches, strange, unexpected, and terrifying weather patterns emerge, misleading the town and placing Kate, Tyler, Javi, and their teams directly in the path of potentially catastrophic tornadoes converging over central Oklahoma.
Executive producers include Academy Award® winner Steven Spielberg, Thomas Hayslip, and Ashley Jay Sandberg. The film will be distributed in the U.S. by Universal Pictures and internationally by Warner Bros. Pictures. Stay tuned July 19 to see it in theaters.
