Three New Blumhouse Films You Can’t Miss
“NYCC was home to a host of panels and updates for movie lovers and fans, but the Blumhouse panel stood out, especially for those of us obsessed with horror and thrills. With a slate of ten films set for release, here are the three we’re most excited about.

M3GAN 2.0 is an upcoming American science fiction horror film directed by Gerard Johnstone and written by Akela Cooper. A sequel to M3GAN, it sees Allison Williams and Violet McGraw return to star alongside Ivanna Sakhno, Timm Sharp, Aristotle Athari, and Jemaine Clement. While details about the sequel are scarce, we do know the release date has been pushed to June 2025, and many of the cast members from the first film will be returning.
What made M3GAN so terrifying was its timely release amid the rise of AI, tapping into fears about our uncertain future with artificial intelligence and robotics—especially with developments like Elon Musk’s fleet of robots looming on the horizon. The first film struck a chord with audiences and dominated the box office, bringing in $181 million on a $12 million budget. With its success, we’re sure M3GAN 2.0 will be another hit.
Black Phone 2 Will Be A Must See
The Black Phone seriously messed with my head in the best (and creepiest) way possible. The movie’s gritty, dark vibe and hints at real-life serial killers—think John Wayne Gacy—made it feel like a nightmare pulled straight from true crime documentaries. And now, the sequel is on the way, set to hit theaters on October 17, 2025. Universal Pictures has confirmed that Ethan Hawke is back as the terrifying Grabber, joined by familiar faces like Mason Thames (Finney), Madeleine McGraw (Gwen), Jeremy Davies (Terrence Shaw), and Miguel Mora (Robin). Plus, Demián Bichir is joining the cast, but his role is still a mystery.

Director Scott Derrickson and writer C. Robert Cargill are also returning, which means we’re in for more of that same spine-tingling magic. We don’t have all the plot details yet, but I’m hoping The Black Phone 2 digs even deeper into the twisted supernatural mystery of the Grabber and that unsettling black phone. Sure, the Grabber supposedly met his end in the last movie—but do horror villains ever really die? I have a feeling something sinister is lurking in this sequel, and I can’t wait (and maybe don’t want?) to see what’s next.
Honestly, I’m still wary of old vans and red balloons after the first film, and there’s just something about that 70s aesthetic that always gives me chills. If the first movie left us sleeping with the lights on, this one is bound to crank the horror up even higher. Bring it on! The film is currently in production.

Five Night’s At Freddys
Five Nights at Freddy’s absolutely killed it last year. I remember chatting with director Emma Tammi, and the fans were beyond excited to see Scott Cawthon’s vision come to life on the big screen. The film definitely got its fair share of positive reviews, and for good reason—it tapped into everything that made the games so iconic, while adding just enough new scares to keep everyone on edge.
So, when I saw the poster for the second installment, I’m not gonna lie—I was pretty hyped. The figure in the teased NYCC poster is Toy Freddy, a character first introduced in the 2014 video game Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.
With a storyline rooted in a video game, the possibilities feel endless, and they’ve set up so much potential to expand Freddy’s terrifying world. There’s something thrilling about knowing they can take the characters and lore in so many directions, and I can’t wait to see what horrors they unleash next!
Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is set to be released in theaters on December 5, 2025.
