
‘The Last of Us’ Renewed for Season 3 Prior To Season 2 Premiere
HBO’s hit Emmy®-winning drama The Last of Us isn’t going anywhere. The network announced today that the acclaimed series has officially been renewed for a third season — ahead of its highly anticipated Season 2 premiere.

Season 2 of The Last of Us will debut on Sunday, April 13 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on HBO, with episodes available to stream on Max. The second season will feature seven episodes.
Set five years after the events of Season 1, Season 2 will follow Joel and Ellie as they face new dangers and growing tension between them in an even more unpredictable world.

Returning & New Cast
Returning cast members include Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, and Rutina Wesley as Maria. Season 2 will also introduce new characters played by Kaitlyn Dever (Abby), Isabela Merced (Dina), Young Mazino (Jesse), Ariela Barer (Mel), Tati Gabrielle (Nora), Spencer Lord (Owen), Danny Ramirez (Manny), and Jeffrey Wright (Isaac). Catherine O’Hara is also set to guest star.

Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming, praised the creative team, saying:

Series co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann also expressed excitement about continuing the story.
Mazin added:

“To see The Last of Us brought to life so beautifully and faithfully has been a career highlight. We’re thrilled to bring you more of The Last of Us.”

Critical Praise Ahead of Season 2
Season 2 has already garnered critical acclaim, with Variety calling it “gorgeous & harrowing,” IndieWire praising it as “brilliant & beautiful,” and Empire calling it “television at its peak.”
Based on the acclaimed video game from Naughty Dog, The Last of Us is written and executive produced by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, with production from Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, Word Games, Mighty Mint, and Naughty Dog. Stream season 2 April 13.
