Netflix has confirmed the official title of its highly anticipated follow-up to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood as The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, bringing Pitt back to one of his most memorable—and Oscar-winning—roles.
But there is one major twist that has movie fans talking. Quentin Tarantino wrote the screenplay, but David Fincher is directing.
That combination alone makes The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth one of the most intriguing movies heading to theaters and streaming in 2026. Netflix has confirmed that the film will first receive an exclusive two-week IMAX theatrical engagement beginning November 25, 2026, before arriving on Netflix on December 23, 2026.

The Official Title Is Finally Here
For months, the project had been referred to as The Adventures of Cliff Booth.
Netflix has now officially changed that title to the much more Tarantino-esque:
The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth
The title immediately signals that audiences are heading back into the strange, unpredictable Hollywood world created by Tarantino. And this time, Cliff Booth is moving into a very different era.
Brad Pitt Returns as Cliff Booth
Pitt will once again play Cliff Booth, the laid-back but extremely dangerous stuntman first introduced in Tarantino’s 2019 hit Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
The original film earned Pitt the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, and Cliff quickly became one of the actor’s most beloved characters. Now, nearly a decade after the events of the original story, Booth is back.
Netflix’s official logline confirms that the new film takes place in 1977, when Hollywood has changed dramatically.
That time jump opens the door to an entirely new chapter for the character—and potentially a very different version of Hollywood.
Quentin Tarantino Wrote It. David Fincher Directs It.
This may be the biggest reason movie fans are already buzzing.
Quentin Tarantino created Cliff Booth and wrote the screenplay for the new film, but he isn’t directing this time.
Instead, David Fincher is behind the camera.
That means The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth combines Tarantino’s characters and screenplay with Fincher’s distinctive filmmaking style.
The pairing is especially exciting because Fincher and Pitt have already collaborated on major films including Se7en and Fight Club.
Now they’re returning to the world of Hollywood—this time with Tarantino’s script.
Who Stars in The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth?
Brad Pitt leads an impressive ensemble cast.
The officially announced cast includes:
- Brad Pitt as Cliff Booth
- Elizabeth Debicki
- Scott Caan
- Carla Gugino
- Yahya Abdul-Mateen II
- Peter Weller
Netflix has also announced additional cast members including Matt Groove, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis and Karren Karagulian. With that lineup, there is plenty of room for the film to introduce a new collection of memorable characters surrounding Booth.
What Is The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth About?
Details about the plot are still being kept tightly under wraps.
What we do know is that the story jumps forward to 1977, roughly eight years after the events of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
Netflix describes it simply as a time when Cliff Booth finds himself in “a very different Hollywood.”
That setting could be particularly interesting.
The Hollywood of 1977 was vastly different from the late-1960s world portrayed in the original movie. The film industry was entering a new era, and the blockbuster revolution was beginning to reshape American cinema.
Exactly how Cliff fits into that changing world remains one of the movie’s biggest mysteries.
When Does The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth Come Out?
Fans will actually get two chances to see the movie.
IMAX release: November 25, 2026
Netflix release: December 23, 2026
The movie will play exclusively in IMAX theaters globally for two weeks before making its streaming debut on Netflix.
That makes The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth one of Netflix’s major theatrical events of the year.
The Biggest Question: What Happened to Cliff Booth?
Perhaps the most exciting part of the movie is that audiences are being dropped into Cliff’s life nearly a decade later.
Who is Cliff Booth in 1977? What has he been doing since the events of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood?
And how will this older, changing Hollywood challenge a character who seemed almost impossible to intimidate?
Those answers are being kept secret for now.
But the title alone suggests that Cliff’s troubles—and adventures—are far from finished.

The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth is officially one of the most anticipated movies coming to screens this year.
The movie arrives in IMAX on November 25, 2026, followed by its Netflix debut on December 23, 2026. And if the combination of Pitt, Tarantino and Fincher isn’t enough to get movie fans talking, the return of Cliff Booth almost certainly will be.
The further mis-adventures are officially coming.
