“Black Phone 2” Trailer Rings with Chilling New Horrors
The phone is ringing again — and this time, the nightmare is far from over.
Universal Pictures and Blumhouse have just unveiled a new trailer for Black Phone 2, the spine-tingling sequel to 2022’s breakout horror hit. With four-time Academy Award® nominee Ethan Hawke returning in his most terrifying role as The Grabber, the new film promises a deeper descent into psychological horror, supernatural dread, and unresolved trauma.
Four years ago, audiences watched as 13-year-old Finn (Mason Thames) survived the unthinkable — killing his sadistic abductor known as The Grabber and escaping captivity. He became the only survivor of the masked child-killer, but some horrors don’t stay buried. Now 17, Finn remains haunted by the past, while his younger sister Gwen (Madeleine McGraw), now 15, begins to experience terrifying visions and dreams. The black phone is ringing again — this time in Gwen’s dreams — and its messages are more urgent than ever.
Gwen’s visions reveal the Grabber is back and more powerful than ever. Gwen persuades Finn to visit the camp during a winter storm to protect him and confront their family’s dark past.
There, at Alpine Lake, the siblings uncover a shattering secret — one that ties The Grabber to their family’s darkest history.

Black Phone 2 sees the return of visionary horror filmmaker Scott Derrickson, once again directing and co-writing alongside C. Robert Cargill. Based on characters by Joe Hill, the film is produced by Jason Blum, Scott Derrickson, and C. Robert Cargill, with executive producers Ryan Turek, Adam Hendricks, Daniel Bekerman, and Jason Blumenfeld.
The cast brings together returning stars and new blood. Mason Thames and Madeleine McGraw return as Finn and Gwen, alongside Jeremy Davies as their troubled father, Terrence. Ethan Hawke returns as The Grabber in his most sinister role yet—now more terrifying with a supernatural edge.
New cast members include Oscar® nominee Demián Bichir (The Nun, A Better Life) as the camp’s brooding supervisor, Arianna Rivas (A Working Man) as his curious niece, and Miguel Mora (Black Phone) as the brother of one of The Grabber’s former victims. Also joining are Maev Beaty (Beau Is Afraid) and Graham Abbey (Under the Banner of Heaven), rounding out an ensemble built for psychological tension and creeping dread.
Released in 2022, Black Phone was a cultural hit, earning $160M and praise for its emotional supernatural horror. Black Phone 2 expands the franchise’s mythology, delving deeper into childhood trauma and the evil that won’t die.
As the trailer ominously warns: “True evil transcends death.”
And the phone is ringing again.
Black Phone 2 hits theaters on October 17, 2025.
