Sean Patrick Thomas on Gen V Finale, Polarity’s Future, and If He’ll Appear in The Boys
Actor Sean Patrick Thomas has been captivating fans this season as Polarity in Gen V, the explosive The Boys spinoff that’s brought a darker, more emotional layer to the superhero world. With the finale approaching and the fandom buzzing about possible crossovers, Thomas sat down with us to talk all things Gen V — including his hopes for Polarity’s redemption, Chance Perdomo’s legacy, and why the series stands toe-to-toe with Marvel and DC.
When asked if Polarity could appear in The Boys, Thomas kept things under wraps.
“I can’t speak to anything that has to do with The Boys — that’s top secret, government-level stuff,” he teased. “But what I will say is there’s still so much story to tell in Gen V. When you mix superpowers, young people finding out who they are, and corporate interests like Vought… that conflict will never end. I hope we get to see Polarity continue to make amends and protect as many kids as he can.”
Thomas also revealed which emoji best sums up the Gen V finale:
“The eyes-bulging-out-of-your-head emoji,” he laughed. “That’s exactly how fans are going to feel.”
This season of Gen V carried emotional weight both on and off screen following the loss of cast member Chance Perdomo, who played Andre Anderson. Thomas shared how the team honored his memory throughout production:
“For us, it was all about keeping him alive in everything we did,” Thomas said. “It was a matter of heightened focus and sensitivity every day. That was our way of paying him honor and respect. He was with us every single day — and it was our duty to make sure he was never forgotten.”
Beyond Gen V, fans online have started fancasting Thomas for roles in the Marvel and DC universes — and he’s not ruling it out.
“I hadn’t seen that, but that’s cool!” he smiled. “Superhero stuff is every actor’s dream. What we’re doing on Gen V is on par with Marvel and DC, but of course, I’d be thrilled to step into any superhero role.”
As for what Gen V has taught him personally, Thomas reflected:
“Being Polarity taught me that it’s never too late to do better and to be better. No matter how big the mistakes, you can always take a step toward becoming a better person.”
Before wrapping, Thomas looked back on one of his most iconic roles — Derek from Save the Last Dance — and the film’s lasting impact.
“When we were making it, I honestly thought no one would see it,” he admitted. “It felt too heartfelt, too earnest. But that’s exactly why it worked. I’m proud of its legacy — especially as a Black leading man in a studio film that went number one for weeks. Working with Julia Stiles was incredible, and I’m proud of what we created together.”
From heartfelt nostalgia to superhero hype, Thomas’s humility and passion shine through. Whether it’s Gen V, The Boys, or the next big universe crossover, Sean Patrick Thomas continues to inspire — both on-screen and off.
