Much like the movie itself, the production and journey behind Sacramento mirrored its themes — by the time the project came to life, the cast and crew were navigating adulthood, parenthood, and all the changes that come with it.
Sacramento Brings Back What We Love
Rickey, an energetic and free-spirited young man with a Peter Pan complex, convinces his long-time friend Glenn to hit pause on his blissful domestic life and embark on an impromptu road trip across California. What starts as a spontaneous adventure soon becomes an emotional journey of reflection, reconnection, and rediscovery.

In our conversation, Michael Angarano and Maya Erskine reflected on working with friends on set, seeing Sacramento on the big screen for the first time, and how the film captures that 20s and 30s nostalgia — road trips, friendship, and figuring out who you are as an adult.
They also shared what they miss most about the 2000s era — before social media and smartphones — when you could just watch a movie and fully experience it without the constant commentary or distraction of the internet. That feeling of being present, watching something with friends, and just living in the moment is a vibe that Sacramento taps into beautifully.
In theaters April 11.
