Meet the Integral Characters in “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes”
Today, 20th Century Studios unveiled a new clip from the highly anticipated “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.” This sneak peek offers viewers a glimpse into the lives of key characters within the film. Although the setting may be distant from the era when Caesar reigned, subtle echoes of his legacy resonate throughout.
In the clip, we are introduced to Noa, an Orangutan called Raka and the human child Mae. Raka is more in tune with the humans and teaches Noa to have mercy as the girl shows signs of being cold. This echos the relationship in the previous trilogy between Caesar and Maurice. Raka chooses to name the girl Nova, a clear homage to the woman who played a pivotal role in saving the day in the original 1968 movie.

This time around Director Wes Ball reinvigorates the sprawling global franchise, and sets it generations ahead of Caesar’s era, where apes reign supreme and humans are the ones who lurk in the shadows. As a new tyrannical ape leader rises, a young ape embarks on a perilous journey, challenging his understanding of the past and shaping the destinies of both apes and humans.
“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,” features a stellar cast including Owen Teague (“IT”), Freya Allan (“The Witcher”), Kevin Durand (“Locke & Key”), Peter Macon (“Shameless”), and William H. Macy (“Fargo”). Penned by Josh Friedman (“War of the Worlds”), based on characters by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver (“Avatar: The Way of Water”), the film is produced by Wes Ball, Joe Hartwick, Jr. (“The Maze Runner”), Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Jason Reed (“Mulan”), with Peter Chernin (the “Planet of the Apes” trilogy) and Jenno Topping (“Ford v. Ferrari”) serving as executive producers.
Tickets are now available for purchase for a May 10 release.
