Mat Pat & Matthew Lillard Bring Special Guests to Five Nights at Freddy’s Event Ahead of New Trailer
Last week, the secret was out — and so were the fans. We joined Mat Pat, Matthew Lillard, and a few familiar faces at Universal’s Backlot for a special Five Nights at Freddy’s event that brought Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria to life. Between the flashing lights, the eerie animatronics, and the nostalgia-filled crowd, it was a night every FNAF fan will remember — and it came with one major surprise: an exclusive early screening of the brand-new Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 trailer, which is now officially out for the world to see.

The event was packed with excitement as Emma Tammi, Kellen Goff, McKenna Grace, Mason Thames, Piper Rubio, and Matt Pat and more joined Freddy and Bonnie themselves. There were also sneak peeks at upcoming FNAF merch that will drop alongside the sequel — including some fan-favorite plush designs and collectibles.
As for the trailer? It confirms what fans have been hoping (and fearing) — the story is about to get much darker. Set one year after the supernatural chaos at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, the sequel finds Mike (Josh Hutcherson) and Vanessa (Elizabeth Lail) doing everything they can to protect Abby (Piper Rubio) from the truth about her animatronic friends. But when Abby sneaks out to find Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy, she uncovers something much more sinister — a long-buried horror that takes the franchise beyond the walls of the original pizzeria.
The footage gives fans a first look at Fazfest, the town’s new horror-themed event inspired by the legend of Freddy’s, and hints that the terror is spreading far past what we saw in the first film. Visually, everything feels sharper and more cinematic, with bigger set pieces and creepier animatronics than ever before.
Returning cast members Hutcherson, Lail, Rubio, and Lillard are joined by Freddy Carter (Shadow and Bone), Wayne Knight (Jurassic Park), Mckenna Grace, and horror icon Skeet Ulrich, adding major star power to the Blumhouse sequel.
Directed again by Emma Tammi and written by Five Nights creator Scott Cawthon, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is produced by Jason Blum and Cawthon, who are looking to top the $300 million global success of the 2023 hit. Judging by the trailer — and the fan energy at the event — they’re well on their way.
The animatronics are scarier, the story’s deeper, and the nightmare is far from over. Freddy’s may have burned once, but something much worse is coming back to life.
