
‘Lady in the Lake’ Trailer: Natalie Portman Unveils a Hidden Past in New Apple TV+ Drama
Based on the 2019 novel by New York Times bestselling author Laura Lippman, the new Apple Original drama “Lady in the Lake,” is an upcoming seven-part limited series starring Academy Award and Golden Globe Award-winner Natalie Portman, who also serves as executive producer, and Emmy Award nominee Moses Ingram. Created and directed by Alma Har’el, “Lady in the Lake” will make its global debut on Apple TV+ with the first two episodes on Friday, July 19, followed by new episodes every Friday through August 23.

Set in Baltimore during Thanksgiving 1966, the disappearance of a young girl grips the city, bringing together the lives of two women on a fatal collision course. Maddie Schwartz (Portman), a Jewish housewife seeking to escape her secret past and reinvent herself as an investigative journalist, becomes fixated on the mysterious death of Cleo Johnson (Ingram), a mother navigating the political underbelly of Black Baltimore while struggling to provide for her family. Initially appearing parallel, their lives intertwine in dangerous ways. Directed by the visionary Alma Har’el, “Lady in the Lake” is a feverish noir thriller and an unexpected tale of the price women pay for their dreams.
