Jeff Wadlow Reveals Jason Blum Is The Scariest Phone Call And The Imagination Behind ‘Imaginary’
Whenever we hear Blumhouse, we immediately correlate it with some of the best new horror flicks to come out in our time, and the latest installment with ‘Imaginary‘ makes a foundation for potential sequels as we explore the sinister side of our imaginations.
The film follows the narrative of a young woman called Jessica who returns to her childhood home with her family, finds her old beloved stuffed bear, Chauncey, and sees that her youngest stepdaughter Alice has grown attached to it. What initially seemingly seems sweet turns into a nightmare after Alice’s behavior becomes concerning, and the games that she and Chauncey play turn increasingly sinister and erratic, Jessica starts realizing that Chauncey is much more than the stuffed bear she believed him to be for all those years and her past comes to haunt her future.

This is one of Blumhouse’s scarier films, as one’s imagination has endless possibilities and you leave the theater wondering if your dreams, nightmares, and the figments of your imagination are made up or if is there something lurking beneath.
We sat down with Jason Blum and Director Jeff Wadlow on what exactly makes this film tick and whether they believe imaginary friends are just ‘Imaginary.’ Jeff also shared that the scariest character in the Blumhouse universe is Jason Blum himself, especially when he gets those ‘let’s make a film’ calls.
