And for fans paying close attention, there is already a fun crossover moment. Marsden reunites with his Sonic co-star Ben Schwartz in Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice, adding another layer of connection between the projects.

“When we first did the first Sonic the Hedgehog, I didn’t anticipate we’d be here making a fourth,” Marsden admitted. “Who knows how many more there will be, but I’m happy about it.”
What keeps him coming back isn’t just the success of the films, but the people behind them.
“It’s one of my favorite groups,” Marsden shared, shouting out director Jeff Fowler, producer Toby Ascher, and co-stars Tika Sumpter and Jim Carrey. “It’s just all these wonderful people, and now we’ve got new energy too, with Kristen Belljoining us.”
For Marsden, stepping back onto set felt natural, almost instinctive.
“It was like riding a bike,” he said. “You just kind of get right back into it. Obviously the story evolves, but it’s a real joy every time.”

Beyond the set, Marsden says the impact of Sonic has been undeniable, especially with younger fans.
“When I’m out and about, most of the people who come up to me, especially kids, it’s because of Sonic,” he shared. “Being able to keep creating something fresh for them is really special.”
That connection is what makes the experience feel bigger than just another sequel.
“You become like a little family on these films,” Marsden explained. “It was like that on X-Men, and Sonic is the same way. It’s all good vibes.”
With Sonic 4 on the horizon, it’s clear Marsden isn’t just returning to a role, he’s returning to a world, a cast, and a fanbase that continues to grow with each film.
