Happy Gilmore Is Back! First Full Trailer Teases Classic Chaos and Big Swings
I mean, how many years have we waited for this? Adam Sandler is back, and he’s not coming quietly. He’s bringing what might be the most jaw-dropping cast ever assembled for a comedy. Directed by Kyle Newacheck (of Workaholics fame) and written by longtime collaborators Tim Herlihy and Adam Sandler, this upcoming project is shaping up to be an all-out comedic spectacle. If you’re already picturing something wild, this is bigger than anything Happy Madison has ever swung at.
Sandler reunites with Happy Gilmore favorites Julie Bowen and Chris McDonald, instantly sparking rumors that this could be a long awaited sequel or at least a spiritual return to that fan favorite world. Joining the madness are Benny Safdie, Ben Stiller, Bad Bunny (yes, Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio), Haley Joel Osment, Eric André, Margaret Qualley, Jackie, Sadie, and Sunny Sandler, and AEW’s Maxwell Jacob Friedman. And if that wasn’t enough, Martin Herlihy, Philip Schneider, Ethan Cutkosky, and Conor Sherry are also in the mix, just to name a few.
The trailer is packed with Easter eggs for longtime fans. Happy is still rocking his iconic Subway sponsorship — the brand’s logo is clearly visible on his golf bag, and his trusty hockey stick is now covered with a yellow “Happy Gilmore” sock.
We also get a glimpse into his life off the green: Happy is now married to publicist Virginia Venit (Julie Bowen), and a quick shot reveals her wedding ring — plus a look at their first child (with more possibly on the way!). You will need to watch the rest to find out!
And then it goes completely off the rails in the best way possible. This movie brings together golf legends like Jack Nicklaus, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Brooks Koepka, and Nelly Korda, alongside sports stars Travis Kelce and Reggie Bush. The list keeps going: Eminem, Post Malone, Cam’ron, Stephen A. Smith, Ken Jennings, WWE superstars Becky Lynch and Nikki Garcia, and even Paige Spiranac. It’s like someone dared Adam Sandler to cast everyone, and he said, “Bet.”
Behind the scenes, the powerhouse producing team includes Sandler, Herlihy, Jack Giarraputo, and Robert Simonds, with executive producers like Dennis Dugan, Barry Bernardi, Judit Maull, Kevin Grady, and David Bausch ensuring this thing comes in hot. With a lineup this unhinged and this entertaining film.
Happy Gilmore 2 is set to release on July 25.
