The final trailer is a testament to what we will be experiencing in theaters and reveals what is behind the deep-seated conflict between Noa and the ape king, Proximus Caesar. The rivalry ignites when Noa’s village is ruthlessly burned to the ground and his fellow apes are taken captive by Caesar’s forces. The footage that follows captures Noa’s daring journey to save his family, highlighting his alliances with Raka, an orangutan, and Mae, a highly intelligent human. As we previously shared, this film is set hundreds of years after Caesar’s reign, where director Wes Ball introduces a new chapter in the globally renowned franchise. In this future, apes have become the dominant ruling species looking down on the human race who is lurking in the shadows while animals flourish.
Directed by Wes Ball, known for the “Maze Runner” trilogy, “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” features a star-studded cast including Owen Teague (“IT”), Freya Allan (“The Witcher”), Kevin Durand (“Locke & Key”), Peter Macon (“Shameless”), and William H. Macy (“Fargo”). The screenplay, penned by Josh Friedman (“War of the Worlds”) and based on characters created by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver (“Avatar: The Way of Water”), is produced by Wes Ball, Joe Hartwick, Jr., Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Jason Reed, with executive production by Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping.
