Secrets from Shadyside: Fear Street Stars on Kill Orders, Twists, and Their Horror Movie Prom Queens
What’s better than a slasher? A slasher set in the ‘80s, of course. Get ready, Shadysiders — Netflix’s highly anticipated Fear Street Prom Queen premieres May 23, and it’s taking us back to 1988 in full retro, blood-soaked style.

Ahead of the premiere, we sat down with the cast — Red Rocket’s Suzanna Son, The Summer I Turned Pretty’s David Iacono, Barbie and Avengers: Infinity War’s Ariana Greenblatt, The Chair’s Ella Rubin, and Ginny & Georgia’s Rebecca Ablack — to talk slashers, survival, and the twisted legacy of Shadyside.

The first three Fear Street films quickly became cult classics — celebrating the horror of decades past while giving R.L. Stine’s iconic books a gritty, cinematic revival. Now, Fear Street Prom Queen takes that same energy to a new level, delivering a fresh chapter that’s equal parts nostalgic, gory, and unpredictable.
We asked the cast which iconic slasher they’d most want to live (or die) in — and the answers didn’t disappoint. From Halloween, Scream to I Know What You Did Last Summer, the stars shared which films shaped their love of horror, and how these movies pay homage to them all, and there are many more eras to be discovered next!
And speaking of next — the cast teased that Prom Queen may be far from the end. With a shocking twist finale and several threads left untied, this film could crack the door wide open for even more entries. The way it ends… it feels like a reset — like we’re just getting started.

Of course, no slasher film would be complete without a scream queen, and we didn’t leave without asking: who’s the ultimate movie prom queen according to the cast? Let’s just say, the tiara might come soaked in blood — and the competition is fierce. Cough Cough Regina George.
With stylish kills, retro chills, and a cast that brings both heart and horror, Fear Street Prom Queen is a worthy new chapter in the Fear Street saga — and fans are going to want to stream it the second it drops.
Fear Street: Prom Queen premieres May 23, only on Netflix.
