Ben Affleck, Math, and Mayhem: The Accountant 2 is Here
It’s been eight years since The Accountant first hit theaters, proving that tax season can be just as thrilling as a shootout. And ever since, fans (yes, we exist!) have been waiting for director Gavin O’Connor and Ben Affleck to reunite for another round of number crunching and neck snapping.

But according to O’Connor, getting The Accountant 2 off the ground has been harder than solving a Rubik’s Cube blindfolded. “It was brutal,” he told Vanity Fair. “It just felt like this flower that was ready to bloom, and then it would stop again and start again. It was so frustrating.”
Ben Affleck: Number Whisperer by Day, Assassin by Night
Affleck plays Christian Wolff, a man whose Excel spreadsheet skills are only rivaled by his ability to put a bullet through bad guys with chilling precision. He’s not your average CPA—he’s a mathematical savant with a penchant for violence, which means he’s basically what would happen if John Wick decided to file your taxes. But instead of helping you get a bigger refund, he’s busy decoding a cryptic message left behind by an old acquaintance (R.I.P.) that says, ominously, “find the accountant.”

Enter Brax: The Brother You Do NOT Want to Fight Over Thanksgiving Dinner
If Christian Wolff is dangerous, his brother Brax (played by the always-intimidating Jon Bernthal) is one missed hug awayfrom pure chaos. These two have a history—estranged siblings who’ve taken very different paths but still end up bonding over their shared love of breaking faces. If you’ve ever thought, “Hey, I wonder what it’s like when two trained killers work out their family issues through extreme violence,” this movie is for you.
The Conspiracy is Deep… And the Body Count is Higher
Alongside Treasury Deputy Director Marybeth Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), Wolff starts peeling back layers of a deadly conspiracy that’s so intense, it makes your last tax audit look like child’s play. As they dig deeper, it turns out someone doesn’t want these secrets getting out—and they’re willing to send a small army of highly trained killers to keep them buried. I mean, talk about aggressive bookkeeping.
THE ACCOUNTANT 2 will have its World Premiere at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival
