
“Avatar: The Way of Water” Makes an Epic Return to Theaters in Stunning 3D This October
The Oscar®-winning cinematic epic Avatar: The Way of Water is making a triumphant return to the big screen. Excitingly, filmmaker James Cameron’s global box office phenomenon will be re-released in 3D for a special one-week theatrical engagement starting October 3, offering fans another chance to experience the breathtaking world of Pandora as it was meant to be seen—on the biggest screen possible.
Originally released in 2022, Avatar: The Way of Water soared to massive success, earning over $2.3 billion at the worldwide box office and becoming the third highest-grossing film of all time. The film won the Academy Award® for Best Visual Effects and earned several other nominations, including Best Picture.
Furthermore, set more than a decade after the groundbreaking events of the original Avatar, this highly anticipated sequel dives deeper into the lush, immersive world of Pandora. The story follows Jake, Neytiri, and their children as they face new threats, loss, and battles to survive. At the heart of the film is the bond of family and the emotional depth that comes with it—set against the stunning backdrop of Pandora’s oceanic landscapes.
Avatar: The Way of Water reveals new Na’vi cultures and stunning aquatic creatures, brought to life with groundbreaking visual effects.

Directed by James Cameron and produced alongside longtime collaborator Jon Landau, the film stars returning cast members Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang, along with Cliff Curtis and Kate Winslet. Rising stars Britain Dalton, Jamie Flatters, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Bailey Bass, and Jack Champion join the ensemble.
The screenplay is by James Cameron, Rick Jaffa, and Amanda Silver, with story credits to Josh Friedman and Shane Salerno. David Valdes and Richard Baneham serve as executive producers. They complete the creative team behind this monumental 20th Century Studios and Lightstorm Entertainment production.
